THREO is a high energy balfolk trio based in Belgium. 

They take a contemporary approach to traditional European dance music with strong melodies composed by Paul James, grooves and harmonies from Hilke Bauweraerts and the driving rhythms of Thomas Hoste. They go from quiet, acoustic textures to full-on dance beats with space to improvise in the moment. 

THREO were nominated in the Flanders Folk Awards 2025 as one of the bands the jury believe will have a strong impact on the future of the genre.
